India Calling! Away in Autumn

BangaloREsidency

Ms Schaffner is happy to announce that she has been invited by Goethe Institute to work with the  fabulous Maraa Collective for Media and Art in Bangalore this autumn.

As much as I like the perfumes of rotting leaves,  frosty mornings and above all, of mushrooms under fir trees, I will swap this for neroli oil, radio waves and Bengaluru roses… and work with the Maraa collective of course. Hello India!

“Maraa works on issues relating to community media – most notably community radio.  Activities involve research, policy advocacy and capacity building. Maraa also facilitates art in public spaces in Bangalore City. Since 2008, public parks, malls, unused and vacant buildings have been used to showcase a variety of art across the city – including theatre, graphic illustration, contemporary movement, independent music, sound installation, poetry and storytelling.
Maraa is also involved in various local campaigns – for example, eviction of slum dwellers and street vendors, malnutrition of children and violence against women and sexual minorities.”

Iceland in April

Hidden Places. A radio investigation.
Well, sometimes it snows in April… possibly during my Iceland Residency at Fljótstunga this year. I will see what happens. As for work: Of course, poetic prodedures + recording the frequencies of moss and lichen 🙂

I am very happy to say that the Goethe Institute in Munich is going to support my work! And the title of the (radio) work envisaged is already in the picture – no snow though…
